Backup Apps, Wipe, Flash ROM, Restore Apps

So, I have finally had enough of all the many steps of wiping cache partition, wiping system partition, wiping data partition, wiping dalvik-cache, wiping sd-ext before flashing the ROM (at the moment, running InsertCoin v25 by baadnwz) and then hoping for the Android Market to all my apps.

So, the solution for me was to convert all these processes into three five (very) simple steps:

  1. Boot recovery
  2. Flash ic_backup_apps.zip
  3. Flash ROM.zip
  4. Flash ic_restore_apps.zip
  5. Reboot phone

As a bonus, you get EXT4 without journaling on your second partition of the SD card.

What you don’t get is a backup of your settings! That just doesn’t work (not from the recovery, without booting your system first).

Warning! ic_backup_apps.zip will wipe:

  • /data partition
  • /system partition
  • /cache partition
  • /sd-ext partition

Warning x2! Don’t wipe anything before flashing!!!

These were tested only on ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.5 and InsertCoin GB! I can’t guarantee it will work for you!

Check out the restore script with the Cheshire Cat boot animation included!
